Mining has a centuries-old tradition in St. Andreasberg. During its operational period, the historic Grube Samson silver mine was one of the deepest mines in the world. The Grube Samson Mining Museum showcases 18th and 19th-century mining technology, some of which is still preserved in its original condition.
Sankt Andreasberg has also been known for over 200 years as a center for canary breeding, which was of great economic importance to the local population. A visit to the Harz Roller Canary Museum is like an exciting journey into the past. The museum is not barrier-free.
The National Park House was opened in 1998 as an information and education center for visitors to the Harz National Park. Numerous exhibitions and constantly new activities provide engaging and entertaining information about the natural and cultural landscape of the Harz region.
