The Harz is the perfect holiday destination for families with children. The area around Sankt Andreasberg offers many wonderful opportunities for explorers of all ages. Here are a few selected suggestions – without claiming to be exhaustive:
Very close to the Brocken Railway station in Drei Annen Hohne, the Dandelion Discovery Trail begins: plenty of outdoor fun for curious children – and adults are sure to learn something too.
The tour takes around two hours and passes many exciting stations where various puzzles and tasks await bright young minds.
The Krodoland leisure park is located in Westerode near Bad Harzburg. It features an indoor play barn with real tree houses, a Native American village, a pedal kart track and a giant scooter track. If you are brave, you might even try pony riding – and visitors of all ages should definitely try their luck at “gold panning” in Krodo City!
In the beautifully designed landscape zoo in Aschersleben, you can experience more than 600 animals up close. Particularly fascinating are the two white tigers, Klara and Karim, and the Siberian tiger Puhdy. Flamingos, flying foxes, marmosets, ocelots and many, many more animals can also be admired across the 10-hectare site.
Along the circular trail through the mysterious forest, you can observe wild birds up close – and with a bit of luck, even a talking raven! Exotic peacocks also strut around the bird station, and of course you are allowed to feed the ducks.
Wave pool and white-water channel, sauna and massage: VITAMAR in Bad Lauterberg offers fun and relaxation for the whole family. Where to first – the 1,000-square-metre adventure area, the children’s paradise (33°C), or straight to the 100 m giant slide with its impressive light and sound effects?
A special highlight at the Brockenbad Wernigerode: the current channel with bubbling rapids. But the water grotto with a real waterfall is, of course, fantastic too. Younger guests will love the rainbow slide, and the very youngest are well catered for in the baby pool.
The Regenbogenland indoor playground in Bad Sachsa is a wonderful destination for the whole family in any weather. Here you can play, romp, run, slide, climb, crawl, bounce and jump – and the bowling alley, adventure pool, gym and ice rink offer even more leisure fun for guests of all ages.
What is the story behind the mysterious hoofprint that has been visible in the rock for many hundreds of years? How does the tale of the beautiful Princess Brunhilde and the furious knight Bodo end? This and much more is told at the Legend Pavilion on the Rosstrappe in Thale with exciting multimedia presentations.
